Acciona Spanish Open Betting Tips & Predictions 2022

Let's now take a look at some Open de España tips that will provide you with insight on how you can approach and create a betting strategy that works.

Open de Espana Golf Tips 2022

Info box icon

Research the top contenders

There are 132 players taking part in the Open de España. While we always advocate for as thorough research for the smartest possible bets, doing so for all here would be a near superhuman feat. What we think is best is to look at the top contenders – perhaps the top 5 – for your research. ๊It is better to understand the top ones well than the entire population poorly.

Info box icon

Consider markets outside of the overall winner

Do not let the size of this tournament put you off – it is a fantastic betting opportunity. All those players create new markets, which better allows you to find a market that works for your predictions and how you like to wager. We will be providing some more specific examples below, but to give you an idea, you could bet on a top 10 finish for a better chance of success.

Info box icon

Utilise general promotions

It is unlikely that there will be that many promotions specifically devoted to the Open de España. Although this is a very popular event, it has not quite reached the level of something like the Premier League, where it is such a hit among bettors that bookies will provide special bonus offers for it specifically. However, most of the best promotions in the UK are more generally available. We are talking welcome offers, free bets, odds boosts🍸 and more. All these can typically be utilised on the Open de España, and we very much advise you to do so.

Info box icon

Consider signing up to a new bookmaker

You can also access more promotions if you sign up to new bookmakers. This can give you a broader range and more competitive odds𒁃 to choose from. In fact, this may be a necessity should your bookmaker not cover this event. If that is the case, then there is no need to worry, as you can sign up to as many bookies as you want without issue.

Info box icon

Pace yourself

Four days on the trot is a long time for many sports tournaments. Open de España is closer to something like The Ashes: a long singular event which holds the attention of their fans for days. Because of this, those live betting should pace themselves, as there is plenty of time to make decisions. And jumping the gun too early is an easy mistake to make for this kind of tournament.

Acciona Open Predictions 2022

ꦐ The last few months have been illuminating, not only in terms of who is available for this tournament, but also how it is likely to go down. Below are our predictions based on all the form and evidence currently available to us. You’ll notice everything fits together into one whole picture, meaning multiple bets can be pursued logically.

Rafa Cabrera-Bello to fail in recapturing his Open de España crown

While the bookmakers may have been a little harsh putting the returning winner as the tenth favourite to win the thing, we do agree that the chances of him doing the double here are slim. 🔯He’s 29th in the European Tour, and failed to make the cut at the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship or impress at the Italian Open and BMW PGA Championship. While it might seem simple to just back last year’s winner, we’re predicting that to fail here.

But Rafa to make the top 5

That said, you don’t need to go for Rafa Cabrera Bello to win the whole tournament if you want to back him. And we do think bookies may have underestimated him somewhat, as he can provide quite the betting opportunity. Despite some recent wobbles, he is still a fantastic golfer and one who we think will be looking at this as an ideal place for a comeback. We expect he’ll fall short of winning but make it to the top 5.✃ So if you get some good odds in that direction, we’d certainly say it’s worth considering.

Jon Rahm to win

We always prefer to tell you that we think the bookmakers have got it completely wrong and there’s someone other than their favourite better placed for victory. Unfortunately, we don't believe that is the case here. The first Spanish winner of the US Open and two time Open de España winnerꦡ Jon Rahm may have some stiff competition in the form of five-time European Tour winner Tommy Fleetwood, but Rahm’s credentials lead us to agree with his position as top dog of the odds table.

Part of the reason we’re backing him is that Rahm’s not living on past glories. In 2022, he broke the PGA Tour to par scoring record at the Sentry Tournament of Champions and won the Mexican Open back in May – his seventh time at PGA Tour glory. He’s also been oh so close to winning on several occasions, and we sense another victory to finally break through here༒. Big tournaments are always tough for backing a winner, but if you’re going down that route, Rahm remains an excellent choice.

Tom Lewis to break top 20

Moving away from the winners’ markets here to a broader look at the field of options. One of the most interesting markets is who will make the top 20, because it provides so many more betting options on lesser-known golfers. Our top prediction in this regard is that Tom Lewis will capitalise on his recent strong form into a very good performance 🍒here and make the top 20. In fact, we’ve been so impressed with Lewis that we wouldn't be surprised if he made the top 10!

A sudden death showdown between Jon Rahm and Tommy Fleetwood

Last year’s Acciona Open ended with a dramatic playoff between Adri Arnaus and Rafa Cabrera-Bello, ending 3-4 in the former's favour. Looking at the extremely competitive line up this year, we’re predicting a similar result. We think there will be a shot or two in it, and that could lead to some exciting prop bets. For those of you live betting, we’d recommend taking this prediction into account and deciding how you would respond (if it all) if such an opportunity came up. Consider which golfers you expect to be in such a position and how you think they would perform under such circumstances. If we were to predict who would be in that final battle, we’d say Jon Rahm and Tommy Fleetwood are the most likely candidates.

Open de España Betting Promotions 2022

There are many fabulous offers that can be utilised on this tournament – your best UK bookmaker𝓡 almost certainly has something suitable for Open de España. Here are three of our favourites to give you an idea of what’s out there:

  • Betfair just about missed out on our top table. But make no mistake, they are a fantastic place for golf tournament betting. Their Get £30 In Free Bets welcome offer is one example of why. Sign up and place a tenner at minimum odds of 1.5 to get £30 in free bets. Simple yet effective.

  • Want to make multiple wagers on the Open de España? BoyleSports might be your best bet, not just because they are all around one of the finest places to bet on golf, but also thanks to their Acca rewards. Choose from acca odds boost or insurance on your favourite sports.

Let's take a look at five reasons🐭 we think Open de España is worthy of your attention:

  1. Terrific course with plenty of challenge: A golfing competition can only be as good as its course. Luckily, the Club de Campo still holds up in that regard, even several decades after it first hosted the Open de España. It is beautiful and challenging, creating both a stunning spectacle and an arena for the best to test their golfing mettle. And that is also important from a betting perspective because it is the challenge which creates market opportunities and potential surprises.

  2. Several great top contenders to win: That Open de España prize money and the prestige of the event creates quite the field of competition available to bet on. And what a line-up we have this year! We have already got defending champion Rafa Cabrera, Tommy Fleetwood, Adri Arnaus and Jon Rahm💛 set to take it to the green. Many contenders mean a more interesting set of markets and broad variety of odds.

  3. A truly superb market selection: But that is not the only reason we view the market selection as exceptional. Not only do you have a mix of great contenders to win the thing, but that also creates Match Bets✨, where you can pit one player against another. On top of that, the sheer number of players creates all kinds of interesting ways to bet, all the way up and down that leaderboard.

  4. Solid chance of a final showdown: Last year, we had sudden death between Rafa Cabrera and Adrià Arnaus in a thrilling conclusion to their four-day odyssey. Looking at the line-up this year, it could very well happen again. And not only is this thrilling to watch, it is also an awesome prop bet opportunity.

  5. Four days of world-class golf: Betting should always be about enhancing the fun. If you win, fantastic, but if not, so long as you bet responsibly൩ and it has added to your entertainment, then, in a way, you’re already a winner.

At this moment in time, it does seem unlikely that even those who can regularly offer live streaming for this sport – including many of the best golf betting sites in the UK – would be able to stream Open de España.

This is because the event is being covered by Sky Sports in the United Kingdom (it is typically available on fuboTV elsewhere), 𒁏and our best research would indicate that it cannot appear elsewhere due to licensing reasons.

We’ve made it clear that we consider the Open de España to be one of the absolute best when it comes to market variety and odds opportunities. It’s even up there with the likes of the US Open or Ryder Cup. But what do those markets actually look like?

Well, there’s about as many available as the bookie’s imagination can muster up. But here are five of the most popular, interesting, and regularly available to give you an idea of what’s available.

Open de España Tournament Winner

൩ As the name indicates, this is a bet on the winner of the whole thing. The Open de España champion, if you will. While it is simple in concept, considering the sheer magnitude of the numbers involved in this tournament and the amount of contenders to the throne means it’s complicated in practice. Yet it's great for long odds, and this market also provides a consistent thread of interest for all four rounds, assuming your pick makes the cut.

Hole in One Betting

As far as golfing terms go, few are as well known as hole in one. That’s because a single victorious shot remains the stuff of legends…and it is possible at Open de España. In 2015, Spanish legend Miguel Ángel Jiménez 🐠astonished onlookers with a second-round hole in one. You can bet generally on anyone to achieve such a feat, at any time.

Finish Betting

If the tournament winner odds don’t suit you, then you may be interested in finish betting. Here, you just have to predict who will make it beyond a certain ranking, whether that be top 20, 10 or 5. This not only gives your picks a better chance, but also allows you to reasonably back a broader selection of golfers.

Round Winner Betting

Much like To Win Either Half Betting in football, you have the opportunity in golf to bet only on a portion of the fixture. Here, you just bet on individual round winnersไ. This really benefits big golfing fans who know the intricacies of how players tend to behave in different portions of such a tournament. It’s also a great way of keeping every day interesting.

Match Bets

If 132 players seem overwhelming, you can use match betting to erase large swaths of players from relevance to your bet. Opt to bet on a winner between two rivals, or even for the top performer from a specific nationality. This is a great option for people wagering on big tournaments in general, as well as the likes of the DP World Tour or the British Open Championship – anywhere the top golfing rivals may do battle.

With over a century of golfing glory🐼 to its name, the Open de España has one of the most interesting histories in the sport. Here are some of the highlights:
