The Coppa Italia is fairly unique, since the draw for the entire competition takes place before a ball is kic✱ked. Teams from Italy’s top-three tiers are involved, although just four teams from Serie C are part of the 44 contenders every season.

With the competition kicking off early in the campaign, the preliminary round consists of four Serie C clubs and four of the lowest-ranked Serie B sides.

The remaining Serie B sides enter in the first round, joined by the 12 lowest-ranked Serie A clubs.

The remaining 8 highest-ranked Serie A sides (typically those competing in Europe) do not join the Italian Cup until the round ofꦯ♍ 16 (third round) stage.

The round of 16 and quarter-final matches are played in quick succession in the new year, as is the first leg of both semi-final ties. The second legs are played a couple of months later,♏ generally in April, with the awaited final taking place in May.

The finale, which has been held across different venues, now takes place at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome and has ꦰbeen a one-legged game since the 2007/08 seaso⛦n.

From the 2022/23 campaign, there will be no away goals rule in the two-legged semi-final stage.

The Coppa Italia 2023/24 is set to begin on August 6th, 2023 and end on May 15th, 2024. We will be sharing the best odds✅ and predictions once the tournament g♋ets underway.

Italy’s answer to the FA Cup, the Coppa Italia is unlike several other cup competit🍬ions across Europe, since its structure benefits🗹 Italy's strongest teams. The seeded system ensures few surprises, with the bookies' favourites typically becoming obvious during the latter stages of the competition.

ಌThus, conjuring up betting tips for this I෴talian Cup is rather tricky, but here are four that could come in handy:

Back one of the favourites

The seeded nature of Coppa Italia favours Italy′s strongest teams, and it is very likely that one of the bookie′s favourites will win the competition. The trophy has been lifted by one of Italy′s “Seven Sisters” – a tag given to the seven best teams in Serie A during the golden era of the league at the end of 1990s (Parma have since been surpassed by Napoli) – every year since 1998. The last team to break the mould was Vicenza in 1997. Overall, winning the Italian Cup has been difficult for underdogs.

Admittedly, Coppa Italia betting is not the most popular foo🅷tball betting option, nor is it widely available among bookmakers. The early rounds can easily slip by, while the latter stages of the competition are innocuously held midweek. Thus, these matches are hardly well-advertised on betting sites, with bookmakers typically offering a rather basic select🔯ion of markets. Given this, it is worth scanning a variety of bookies to see which ones offer the best variety, as well as the best odds. Luckily for you, we have listed some of the best Coppa Italia bookmakers above for your convenience.

Look out for any Coppa Italia betting offers

Coppa Italia betting promotions are hard to come by, which means you must do your research. Bookmakers such as bet365 and Paddy Power will offer boosted odds on random markets in the most significant matches of the competition. Finding and taking advantage of such offers will undoubtedly increase the likelihood of making some profit from betting on the Copp😼a Italia.

The Italian Cup is not as prominent among UK bookmakers compared to other cup competitions such as the FA Cup. Nevertheless, when Italy’s premier cup competition rolls around ꦅ– especially the latter stages – t𓄧here will be a few markets for punters to bet on. Here are a few Coppa Italia betting options worth taking advantage of:

OUTRIGHT Coppa italia BETTING: WINNER

Quite simply, this is a bet on a team to win the Coppa Italia that season. Should this be your option, you could also 💎make your bet each-way, allowing your team to lose in the final. But, for non each-way Coppa Italia Outright betting, your team will need to lift the trophy. History will say that you are better off picking one of the favourites to go all the way.

OVER/UNDER MARKETS

There are several different types of over/under betting markets on pretty much all football events covered, and you can expect these to be prominently available for all Coppa Italia rounds. The most common examples are over/under markets on goals, where you predict whether the overall number of goals scored will be over or under a betting line set by the bookmaker. The same rules apply for many booking points and corner markets. It is worth noting that Italian Cup matches typically a🉐re not as unpredictable or wild as FA Cup fixtures in the U🍰K.

TO MAKE THE FINAL

Not quite an each-way bet, but effectively a bet on a team to be among the last two teams of the tournament. Note that your pick does not need to win, and if it doesඣ, you wꦿill not win extra.

TO GO TO PENALTIES

Two of the last four Coppa Italia finals reached extra time, and the 2020 iteration between Napoli and Juventus went all the way to penalties. However, that was just the second time the Coppa Italia final has been decided on penalties since it became a one-legged game in 2007/08. Nevertheless, the ‘To Go to Penalties' market will always be available ahead of the competition’s finale.

The Coppa Italia had a comp🅺lex inception. In 1921, when the tournament was first set up, the Italian championship was divided into two groups – the CCI Championship and FIGC Championship. This meant that the organisation of the cup competition was tricky, with only three editions held between 1922 and 1936.

  • List Icon

FC Vado, which now competes in Serie D, was the first club ever to win the Italian Cup, in 1922, after defeati🔥ng Udinese (1-0) in the final.

  • List Icon

World War II brought further disruption, and the competition was interrupted until 1958. Since then, though🧔, the Coppa Italia has been held every year.

  • List Icon

Juventus is the most successful side in the competition, having lifted the Italian Cup for 14 times. Since tꦰheir first victory, in 1938, the Bianconeri have won the trophy in ev🥃ery decade except the 2000s.

  • List Icon

Unfortunately, the Coppa Italia does not boast the magic of the FA Cup and it is more comparable ⭕to England′s League Cup. With the strongest teams in Italy not entering the competition until the round of 16, the chances of a smaller club pulling off a surprise against superior oppꦜosition are slim.
